Church Beliefs
The 16 Fundamentals of The Assemblies of God
1. The Bible Is Inspired - It is the revelation of God to man - the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. (2 Tim 3:16-17; 1 Thes. 2:13; 2 Pet 1:21) 2. The Trinity - There is only one God, the Creator of heaven and earth, eternally existent in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Matt 28:19; Luke 3:22) 3. The Lord Jesus Christ - He is both the "Son of God", the only Begotten of the Father, and the "Son of Man" having a human nature: fully God and man. (Mt 1:23, John 1:1-4) 4. The Fall of Mankind - Sin entered the world by human choice which brought physical and spiritual death, which is separation from God. (Gen 1:26, 2:17, 3:6; Rom 3:23, 6:23) 5. Salvation - The only hope to be saved is through repentance for sin and faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift that is not earned or deserved. (John 3:3, 16; Rom 10:9-13; Eph 2:8) 6. Church Ordinances - Baptism in water, and Holy Communion. (Mt 28:19, Luke 22:14-20) 7. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit - Distinct from filling at salvation, is available to all believers, to empower the work of the church's ministry. (Acts 1:4-8, 8:14-17, I Cor 12:1-11) 8. Speaking with other Tongues - It is the normal initial physical sign of the Baptism in the Spirit, used for prayer, praise, and prophetic expressions. (Acts 2:1-4, 10:44-46, 19:6) 9. Sanctification - The Holy Spirit empowers believers to separate from evil, connect with God, and transform their mind, body and spirit. (Rom. 6:1-11, 12:1-2) 10. The Church - The church is the "body of Christ" with the divine purpose of fulfilling the great commission. (Eph. 1:22-23; Matt 28:19; Mark 16:15) 11. The Ministry - Each person has a part in helping the church minister. (Eph 4:11-16) 12. Divine Healing - Deliverance from sickness is provided for through the cross, for all believers, and is an integral part of the Gospel. (Mt 8:16-17; Isa. 53:4-5; James 5:14-16) 13. The Blessed Hope - Resurrection of those who have died in Christ and the "rapture" of those alive when Christ visibly returns. (1 Thes. 4:13-17; Mt 24:27-44; 1 Cor 15:51-55) 14. The Millennial Reign - Christ's reign on earth for one thousand years. (Rev 20:1-10) 15. The Final Judgment - When the dead will be raised and judged. Whoever is not found written in the Book of Life, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire, which is the second death. (Rev 20:11-15, 21:8; Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43-48)16. The New Heaven and New Earth - Where those saved in Christ will reside with the Lord for eternity. (Rev 21:10-22:5; 2 Pet 3:12-13)
